Updates & Information
July 2, 2008
Throughout the process of preparing to open the Malone Speedway, we have had open communication & frequent meetings with Code Enforcement and other entities to insure all parties were aware of our compliance with all requirements established in order to be issued a certificate of occupancy.  Unfortunately, a few days prior to our anticipation of being issued the Certificate of Occupancy and our Grand Opening, an individual came forward with a "concern". The Town Board felt this mandated a "second look" at the Malone Speedway project. Prior to the Malone Town Board meeting this evening, that individual's concern was resolved and was duly noted by the Board. This week we will complete a noise tests/decibal readings as a further requirement. We do not anticipate any problem with the findings and will meet with the Malone Town Board in a special meeting scheduled for the afternoon of July 10th. After this meeting, we anticipate we will be able to announce the date of our Grand Opening (based on our approval date for our Certificate of Occupancy) and we will be able to provide our revised schedule to racers and fans. Thankyou for your patience and support.

A number of individuals from the community took the time to appear at the Malone Town Board meeting this evening & spoke out, citing the benefits of our anticipated opening and demonstrating overall support for our project and for our community.  Residential neighbors spoke out, assuring the board that noise was not and never had been an issue.  After the meeting, individuals that had not spoke directly to the Board, extended verbal encouragement & support to project developers.  Thankyou. Your interest, encouragement, and support is appreciated.

In response to questions/requests regrading track licenses, RACERS/RACE TEAMS will NOT be required to purchase a license for this race season due to the delay in opening this season and in fairness to our participants.  A pit pass will be the only requirement to participate/gain access to the pit area.

Testing performed on the electrical grid at the Malone Speedway has resulted in a determinaton there are still significant problelms with the underground wire system.  Track employees have diligently worked on this problem for a number of weeks, attempting to locate and repair the breaks in the track’s 4/10 of a mile electrical grid without success.
Dow Electric originally built the track’s electrical grid and has been contracted to repair it. Dow Electric estimates that the necessary repairs can be completed within three weeks.
This continuing electrical problem has necessitated a revised racing schedule for the 2008 season. The Malone Speedway will open for its first race event on Sunday, June 22, 2008. The gates will open at 12:00 Noon, with racing starting at 2:00PM. This event will feature Super Sportsman, Super Streets, 4 Cylinder, and Enduro racing. In anticipation of the electrical problem being rectified, the second race of the season will be on Friday Evening, June 27, 2008, starting at 7:00PM with gates opening at 5:00PM.
Thereafter, racing at the Malone Speedway will be held every Friday Evening until the final events of the season in September.  In September, racing will resume to a Saturday or Sunday afternoon schedule.
      Weather permitting, practice will be held on June 6, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.                                             June 8, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
   June 13, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. &
   June 15, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

May 30, 2008: Our water has been hooked up, we believe the electrical grid and underground breaks have been repaired and will be tested in the coming week. We are continuing to work diligently to ensure our front gates and pits will open on Friday, June 13th.

Tires & Practice: Tires should be arriving this week and when they do, notice will be posted on this site along with available pick-up times.  In addition, during this period of postponement, we plan on making the track available a few evenings/days  for additional practice.  These times will be posted this week.

May 27, 2008: NOTE: We are encountering an unanticipated delay with the application process & approval required to be hooked into the town water system.  Because of this and in consideration of the continuing work on our electrical grid, we have had to make the difficult and disappointing decision to postpone our Grand Opening until Friday, June 13th.

May 22, 2008-REMINDER- Practice Tomorrow, May 23rd and Sunday, May 25th.
Practice on Friday will be from 1:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Practice on Sunday will be from 2:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m.
To those of you that practiced last weekend, it was good seeing you & hearing your input.

Additional Note- Tire Info: All cars will be allowed to run the track tires they have been allowed to run on their cars this race season at other tracks for the first 5 races at the Malone Speedway.  This will enable racers additional time to acquire Malone Speedway tires if they need to change over.

Due to known and unknown breaks in the Speedway's underground electrical grid the reopening of the Malone Speedway has been postponed one week.  Several underground breaks were discovered on May 12th, 2008 which will necessitate the replacement of the majority of the grid.  This unforeseen project will take several weeks.  With this in mind, the decision was made to delay the opening of the speedway one Week.  The first event of the season will be held on Friday, June 13th, 2008. The gates will open at 5:00 p.m., with heats starting at 7:00 p.m. and Features immediately thereafter.  The event will be sponsored by NBT Bank and the first 200 fans will receive free stadium seats (donated by NBT Bank). To honor their service to their countries, the Malone Speedway will admit all United States and Canadian Veterins free. Additionally, all current active United States and Canadian military will be admitted free with some type of retured or current military identification.

Excerpt from www.rpmracingengines.net:

February 8, 2008: The decision to incorporate the use of Rule Books from other area tracks was not done for lack of ingenuity on the part of Malone Speedway.  The purpose was twofold: Malone Speedway officials determined that allowing cars from other tracks to participate may result in a larger field and better competition.  Malone Speedway may benefit from this decision but so may the other Tracks. Many cars that are being built specifically for  racing at Malone Speedway may chose to participate in racing elsewhere as well.  It will be an option for the Race Team because of our decision to implement the rules we have.
Because we have given thought and consideration to other tracks when devising rules and our Schedule of Events, Drivers will have twice as many opportunities to "go racing". Secondly, We acknowledge that many local Race Teams operate on a limited budget, therefore we chose to create a schedule without conflict and the option to race at Malone Speedway & other area locations without having to incur the additional expense of having to modify their cars between locations.

In response to questions posed regarding the track: There have been some initial changes to the track as follows:
The "Canadian Corner" has been made wider & the track is 110 feet longer. The track is a  true 4/10 mile as a result and the Canadian corner is approximately 95 feet wide and is banked 22 degrees. We tested it  with a Pro Stock and it is very fast. As soon as the snow is off the track in April we will be having practice.

January 26, 2008: A Driver's Meeting was held on Saturday, January 26th at the Malone Moose Lodge. Race Teams for all four divisions were in attendance. Track Rules were discussed along with other matters of interest to race participants. License applications and information sheets were distributed.
As a reminder, we will be posting payout information and will be notifying you as soon as possible to schedule practice sessions as promised at the meeting.

It was good to see everyone and we look forward to a successful race season.
For those of you that could not attend and need an information packet sent, please make contact through this site or by calling 518-353-2550.
